WaterWell Product Release

29 May 2025

Waterwell Announcement

Murray Irrigation’s Board of Directors approved the company’s 2025/26 Resource Management Strategy at a Board meeting held today. The Resource Management Strategy outlines how Murray Irrigation will distribute water to customers through its suite of WaterWell products over the 2025/26 season.

The latest NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (NSW DCCEEW) forecast is predicting no or very low general security allocations early in the 2025/26 season. This lack of certainty in early allocations will limit Murray Irrigation’s ability to provide an Allocation Advance this season. However, to ensure customers still receive benefits from the WaterWell product throughout the season, additional water releases will be triggered throughout the season via the company’s Resource Distribution product (outlined below) as increases in NSW DCCEEW general security water allocations are announced.

2024/25 WaterWell Products

Allocation Advance

Due to the lack of certainty in available early general security allocations, no Allocation Advance will be available for the 2025/26 season.  However, as per above, customers will receive WaterWell water via the Company’s Resource Distribution product (outlined below) as increases in NSW DCCEEW general security water allocations are announced.

Sustainability Product

Following the commencement of the 2025/26 water year, Murray Irrigation will confirm what proportion of the Sustainability Product (80GL capped) will be available, as well as the timing of the expression of interest (EOI) and other necessary details. As announced last season, delayed payment options will again be made available to eligible customers who participate in the Sustainability Product EOI. Further information on these payment options, including interest rates, will be made available upon the announcement of the details for accessing the Sustainability Product.

Water Users Credit

A five percent credit will be applied to every megalitre used on farm through a compliant outlet to eligible water using customers. This credit will be applied to customer water allocation accounts daily, based on imported meter readings.

Resource Distribution

Murray Irrigation will distribute water via the company’s Resource Distribution product as NSW DCCEEW general security water allocations build as outlined in the following table:
