Weed management trial

MIL staff hosted a field day at our Finley office recently to showcase the results from our Winter trial of a new chemical for controlling aquatic weeds, called 'Fluenta'.

The field day was run by agricultural science and technology company Macspred/Syngenta. Attendees to the event included representatives from Sumitomo, Goulburn-Murray Water, Murrumbidgee Irrigation and MIL.

The results of the trial are tracking well to date, as the below before and after photos indicate.

Weed regrowth will continue to be monitored over the coming months to assess the kill on the rhizomes (bulbs) in the channel bed.

Note: Fluenta is currently being used under permit from the APVMA, which is the Australian Government regulator of agricultural and veterinary chemical products.

This photo was taken at Finley 5A2 in May - just two weeks after the Fluenta treatment.

This photo was taken at Finley 5A2 in October - five months after the Fluenta treatment.
