Operational Update - Summer Operations

24 November 2025

Murray Irrigation Summer Operations

This Operational Update provides information on channel levels over the summer based on low general security allocations and reduced summer crop order data.

Operating Plan

Aligned with the
2025-26 Season Operating Plan the channel system is currently being operated in Mode 2 – Dry, based on the low water balance in customers’ accounts, approximately 258,869ML.

This mode aims to enable water saving and efficiency whilst providing moderate flexibility to customers.

This year there are approximately 250 outlets with orders for summer crops, while last season there were 725 outlets operating over the summer period.

Subsequently, in channel sections where no current or future demand is shown in the ordering system or there are no irrigation intentions, channel levels will be maintained at a reduced operating height.

What do customers need to do?

4-day order notification is required for all orders.

The water ordering system will only offer starts for 96 hours (4 days) in advance.

Customers need to place orders as early as possible online via the Customer Portal
bit.ly/MILWaterOrdering

If you want delivery earlier than 4 days, please add a message in the water ordering system with your preferred order start time and date eg. 24/11/2025 AM. You will be contacted if the order cannot be delivered when requested.

For stock and domestic supply, customers should call Customer Experience to request temporary intervention where there is an inadequate supply height.

Season Operating Plan

The
2025-26 Season Operating Plan, available on our website, explains the Modes of Operation and how the water delivery year operates.

To understand the service levels provided to customers, the Season Operating Plan should be read in conjunction with the
