IPART water pricing review submission
Murray Irrigation has now finalised and submitted our response to IPART's Discussion Paper on WaterNSW's regional and rural bulk water charges from 1 July 2026.
In our submission, we argue:
- Under modern water management arrangements for the Murray, no single water-user group is driving or causing the bulk of WaterNSW's service provision costs.
- There is now significant non-irrigation use of water and WaterNSW assets, and this use should not be paid for by irrigators.
- As such, we support IPART undertaking a comprehensive review that better clarifies who should pay for WaterNSW's services, and in what proportions.
- While this work is underway, WaterNSW charges should be capped at CPI, from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2028.
We also encourage IPART to continue engaging with key stakeholders ahead of the release of its draft pricing determination in March 2026.

Submissions on IPART's Discussion Paper have now closed.
