Sustainability Product - Round 2 Update

Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Murray Irrigation's second round of Sustainability Product closed at 5.00pm on Tuesday 8 September. 

Thank you to the 190 customers who participated.

This EOI was oversubscribed, with the volume of water requested totalling 83,100ML. The total amount available was 79,672ML. 

As in previous seasons where the EOI has been oversubscribed, the volume offered to each customer was a percentage of the Permanent Delivery Entitlements (DEs) they hold. 

All offers were made to customers on 9 September with the deadline to accept or reject the offer closing at 5.00pm yesterday. During this time, a number of offers have been rejected, therefore, a volume of water will be made available to all customers via public auction as outlined in previous communications. 

The total volume of water and details of how customers can participate in the public auction are currently being finalised and will be communicated via email and SMS as soon as practicable.

2026 Season Outlook Briefings

Murray Irrigation will be facilitating Season Outlook Briefings in Wakool, Deniliquin and Finley on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
 
These events are designed to equip customers with valuable insights and resources from industry experts, enabling you to make well-informed decisions for the season ahead.
 
Similar to last year, there will be expert speakers covering topics including:

• Marrianne Graham (Ruralco Water) – 2026/27 Water Market Seasonal Update
• Patrick Carolan & Priyantha Jayakody (NSW DCCEEW) – Water Allocation Forecast Outlook 2026/27 
• Eric Snodgrass (Nutrien Ag Solutions) - Weather forecast focused on the MIL footprint.

Information sharing tour with Coleambally Irrigation

Managers from Murray Irrigation’s Operations department welcomed a cohort from Coleambally Irrigation last week as part of an information sharing tour and continued collaboration between the two companies.
 
Key topics discussed on the day were Murray Irrigation's asset management, customer service models, ICT infrastructure and GIS. 
 
It was great to all be in the one room, sharing mutually beneficial knowledge and discussing our respective focus on the continuous improvement of our water delivery networks. 
 
We look forward to continuing this collaborative working relationship.

Latest NSW DCCEEW Water Allocation announcement  

The NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) has announced today (15 September) a 10% increase to NSW Murray General Security water entitlements.

This brings the allocation total for the 2026-27 season to 28%.

Henty Machinery Field Days

The Henty Machinery Field Days is one of Australia’s leading agricultural events, held annually in the heart of the nation’s food-producing region in southern New South Wales. Attracting approximately 60,000 visitors each year, the event has become a must-attend showcase for primary producers, agribusiness professionals and rural communities from across the country.

Rural Tree Planting Scheme

RGA Landcare is a proud supporter of the Edward River Council (ERC) Rural Tree Planting Scheme.

This scheme encourages landholders to plant native vegetation to enhance the biodiversity of the region.

Orders are now open for ERC ratepayers to purchase subsidised trees grown by McKindlays Riverine Nursery for delivery in May 2027.
