Murray Irrigation announces successful sponsorship recipients

Murray Irrigation has awarded $25,000 in funding to six local initiatives through its annual sponsorship round. 

Community groups and local schools were invited to apply for funding through the Company's 2026 Community Sponsorship and Education Sponsorship programs, which closed on 29 June.

A total 26 applications were received this year across the two streams, seeking total funding in excess of $115,000.     

While all applications were deserving in their own right, the selection process was guided by a strict merit-based system that was based on specific application criteria.

The successful 2026 recipients are listed below. 

Community Sponsorship Program: 

• The Deniliquin Rams Football Netball Club has received $5,000 to install a drinking fountain and bottle refill station at its facilities. 
• Quantum Clinical Care has been allocated $3,000 for a Barham community Men's Health event.
• The Southern Riverina Wellbeing Collaborative has been granted $5,000 to support its 'Just a Farmer' film event at Tocumwal in August. 
• The Wakool Services Club has been awarded $2,000 to put towards the establishment of a Community IT Hub.

Education Sponsorship Program:   

• Mayrung Public School has received $5,000 to contribute to a refurbishment of its library. 
• Tocumwal Public School P&C has been allocated $5,000 to purchase readers for Kindergarten and Year 1 students.

Murray Irrigation CEO Ron McCalman has thanked all community groups and schools who applied for funding, acknowledging the calibre and merit of this year's submissions.

"Each and every project demonstrated a commitment to making a difference either in the community or within the classroom, and I would encourage those who may not have been successful in this year's funding round to consider reapplying in 2027," Mr McCalman said. 

Murray Irrigation's annual sponsorship program is made possible through the support of the Company's customers.

Applications for the Company's 2027 sponsorship program will open in the first half of next year.
