Chair Update - Murray Irrigation Board Meeting - 27 August 2026
31 August 2026
Murray Irrigation Board meeting – 27 August 2026
Murray Irrigation Limited (Company) held a Board meeting on Thursday 27 August 2026. It was pleasing to have all Directors attend this meeting in person, which provided the Board further opportunity to host extra meetings with shareholders and workshops with Management over the course of the week.
2026 Annual General Meeting (AGM)
The Board discussed the upcoming 2026 AGM which will be held on Thursday 19 November from 10.00am. Specific focus was placed on the Notice of Meeting and Proxy Forms, which will be sent to shareholders in late October, together with the Annual Report and details of how to participate both in person and online.
Water Solutions
On Wednesday 26 August, all Directors attended a workshop held by Management to discuss the Company’s Water Solutions product suite and key operating principles, including access and ensuring use within the footprint. The Board is very pleased with the progress of Water Solutions, particularly: the governance guidelines that have been put in place to ensure the Company complies with new provisions under the Water Act, and the team’s focus on the mandate of keeping productive water in the footprint. Further information on the 2025/26 performance of Water Solutions will be made available within the Annual Report.
Shareholder Meeting
On Wednesday 26 August, the Company’s Directors hosted an in-person meeting with representatives from the five LHAs along with some other shareholders who have raised concerns regarding the Company’s new fee structure. We thank those in attendance for taking the time to meet with us and sharing your thoughts regarding Board decisions. While the Board understands there has been some reservation regarding some changes the business has made in recent years, we would like to reassure customers that there will be no pause to the new fee structure that came into effect on 1 July 2026. This new fee structure has reduced annual costs for the majority of irrigators currently in the Murray Irrigation footprint. Customers will receive their first invoice from the Company under this new fee structure in early October for the first quarter of the 2027 financial year.
It is important to emphasise that Murray Irrigation will always be seeking opportunities to provide additional value to shareholders and customers and reward water use wherever possible, as demonstrated in the recent increase in the Water Users Credit.
Water Users Credit
As previously mentioned, it was pleasing to see that the Company was able to take advantage of the recent supplementary water event to increase the 5% Water Users Credit up to 8%. While the start to the season has been far better than anticipated, forecasts are still predicting a warmer and dryer year, so we hope this increase in water availability for water using customers assists in planting decisions and promotes an overall positive outcome to the cropping season.
The Company’s next Board meeting is being held on 15 October 2026, and I look forward to providing you with another update at that time.
