Operational Update
Aquatic weed treatment trial
As previously communicated in
Talking Water, Murray Irrigation has been undertaking a chemical trial in the Deniboota channel system to control the build up of aquatic weeds.
This activity is now complete, with chemical applied via direct inject application to 14km of channel using a drone (see below photo), and a further 41km via foliar spray.

The results of the direct injection have been very promising so far, as the below photo demonstrates.

The team will continue to monitor the results of the foliar application over the coming weeks.
The chemical trials Murray Irrigation is undertaking are being conducted under permits approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) for both the chemical and drone application with the guidance of the chemical suppliers, Syngenta and Sumitomo.

Hosted at the Whitton Malt House, the event gathered together more than 120 women from diverse agricultural industry backgrounds, from farmers, agronomists and horticulturalists to various agribusiness professionals, for a productive day of learning, networking and information sharing.
The program covered a wide array of topics, including Financial Literacy (Carmen Quade), Artificial Intelligence (Andrew Skinner, Tessa Eaglesham), Work Health and Safety (Sue Howie) and a Water 101 presentation (Jenny McLeod).
The conference provided a valuable platform for participants to catch up, build connections, exchange ideas and expand knowledge.
