Basin Plan - Adjustment to Sustainable Diversion Limits (SDLs)
In 2012, governments reached an agreement with the MDBA that environmental water recovery under the Basin Plan would be reduced if nominated projects were built and operational by 31 December 2026. More information about the nominated projects is available here:
Sustainable diversion limit adjustment mechanism–register of measures | Murray–Darling Basin Authority
The Sustainable Diversion Limit Adjustment Mechanism (SDLAM) is used to determine how much environmental water recovery will be reduced through the full delivery of the nominated projects. Where projects will not be delivered as agreed, environmental water recovery takes place instead. The SDLAM reconciliation process determines the volume of any environmental water recovery that is needed.
The MDBA is required to undertake the SDLAM reconciliation process during the second half of 2026. It will be releasing its draft findings this Thursday, 1 October. Details will be available here:
Murray–Darling Basin Authority | Murray–Darling Basin Authority.
A public submission process on the MDBA's draft findings will be open for one month. Murray Irrigation will provide a submission into this process, aimed at reducing the volume of any environmental water recovery proposed for our footprint.
Basin Plan Review Update: Webinar
The MDBA will be hosting an online public webinar tomorrow, Wednesday 30 September, between 10am and 11am. The webinar will provide an update on the MDBA's current thinking as it finalises its advice on the Murray-Darling Basin Plan Review. The event is free to attend, with registrations required via the link below.
