The review of the Basin Plan has officially commenced, with the public release of the MDBA's Discussion Paper last week.
Murray Irrigation's Water Policy Coordinator, Linda Christesen, has undertaken a preliminary examination of the content and is holding in-person information sessions on the Discussion Paper, and the broader Review process.
These meetings are being held today and tomorrow at Deniliquin, Finley and Wakool, as follows:
- The Coach House Deniliquin - 5.00pm today (Tuesday 10 February)
- Murray Irrigation Finley office - 9.00am tomorrow (Wednesday 11 February)

These sessions are expected to run for about 90 minutes, and refreshments will be provided.
We encourage people to attend these meetings to find out more about the Review and how they can participate in the process.
The key discussion points for these information sessions can be found in the below presentation.

Operational Update
Preventative Gate Cycling Program
Murray Irrigation has initiated a proactive Gate Cycling program as part of our ongoing maintenance work.
Set to commence shortly, this new program will regularly test the movement of our remote-controlled outlets and regulators within the footprint to identify potential failures and water delivery delays in gates that are used infrequently.
Customers will be contacted prior to us testing gates on your property. While the risk of failure and water spillage is low, Murray Irrigation has mitigations in place if a failure does occur.
Customers who are completing works or weed spraying behind outlets, who are contacted as part of the Gate Cycling Program, are asked to contact us to discuss options.
If customers would like any further information on Murray Irrigation's preventative Gate Cycling program, please contact the Customer Experience team on 1300 138 265.

Delivery Entitlements Review
As discussed during the 2025 shareholder engagement meetings, Murray Irrigation is conducting a major review into the company’s delivery entitlement (DE) structure.
This significant review is ongoing and no decision has been made by Murray Irrigation.
As a courtesy, while this review remains ongoing the company would like to caution customers to take this into account if they are considering entering into potential commercial arrangements involving permanent DEs.
In line with Murray Irrigation’s ongoing commitment to transparency and stability, Murray Irrigation plans to commence engagement on this review in the coming months.
If you have any questions, please contact the Customer Experience team on 1300 138 265 or customersupport@murrayirrigation.com.au
