2026 Winter Operations: Guaranteed Dates
In line with the Season Operating Plan, Murray Irrigation has commenced the transition from Regular Operations to Winter Operations.
The Winter Operations period (May to August) focuses on completing the annual maintenance program on time and within budget, while continuing to provide customers with access to water delivery wherever possible.
This operational update provides water delivery dates for all maintenance and non-maintenance areas.
Guaranteed Water Delivery Dates

After the guaranteed delivery dates, maintenance areas will be progressively drained in line with the Season Operating Plan.
Once drainage is complete, water delivery will not be available, including for stock and domestic use, for the duration of the winter period.

After the guaranteed delivery dates, access to water (including stock and domestic) will be subject to the water available within your channel section.
Key Points to Note
- Water orders can continue in non-maintenance areas during winter, however delivery is not guaranteed
- In 2026, the Mulwala Canal and Deniboota Channel will be drained to complete essential maintenance
- After the guaranteed dates in both maintenance and non maintenance areas, all orders will be reviewed daily and customers will be advised if, and when, delivery is possible
- We strongly recommend filling dams now to ensure adequate supply of stock and domestic water through to mid-August.
