Supplementary water event announcement

Murray Irrigation Limited (Company) has successfully accelerated our current maintenance works in the Mulwala system to enable the Company, and in turn our customers, to take advantage of the supplementary water event announced today by the NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.

The Company has commenced filling the Mulwala system to The Drop. Due to the current Winter Works schedule, the Company will reassess refilling the system past The Drop following further announcements from the Department. For customers to gain access to the supplementary event, we first need to fill the channel system to meet operational requirements and enable the Company to deliver the supplementary water.

Customers who may have access to this supplementary event will be contacted directly.

The supplementary water that is used to fill the channel system will be calculated once the supplementary event has finished.

The amount of water that was used to fill the system will be added on top of the current 5% Water Users Credit to reward water using customers.

Detailed information on this will be made available following further announcements from the Department.

Critical works are currently being accelerated on the Wakool canal, and are expected to be completed by 20 July 2026. Murray Irrigation’s Wakool region will be in a position to take advantage of any further supplementary announcement following this time.

The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water is responsible for announcing supplementary events when it is deemed that surplus water in the system cannot be regulated or captured for future use, and is not needed to meet current demands.
