Operational Update

Order early to guarantee rice water delivery

We are already receiving orders for rice, and we encourage rice growers to place your orders with at least four days notice to guarantee delivery.

You can always change the duration or flow rate on your order closer to the day as your needs change. The cutoff to make changes is before 6.30am or 6.30pm each day.

Providing as much notice of your orders as possible guarantees your delivery and provides more notice for potential restrictions so alternatives can be pursued.

If you need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us: 1300 138 265 or email: customersupport@murrayirrigation.com.au

Prevent errors by ordering online

More than 22,000 orders were placed last season.

Close to 80% of these orders were placed through our
Customer Portal, with the remainder made over the phone.

To help reduce the possibility of human error arising from phone orders, we encourage you to place, change or finish your orders online.

The Customer Portal can be accessed on your mobile phone, tablet, or computer, as shown in the screenshot below.

We also have a detailed Water Ordering Guide which shows you how to place, change or cancel an order and how to change your password.

If you would like a staff member to show you how to use our Portal, please call us or drop in and we can walk you through it, step by step.

Water Amendment inquiry submission

Murry Irrigation has responded to the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee's Inquiry into the Water Amendment (Restoring our Rivers) Bill 2023 with a 12-page submission.

This submission states the company’s support for the proposed timeline extensions to complete supply measure projects, along with the ability to include new projects to help achieve the 605GL target.

The document further indicates our opposition to proposed amendments to the Bill that allow lifting the cap on buybacks and enabling buybacks to achieve the 450GL target.

You can read Murray Irrigation's full submission on our website.

Shadow Environment Minister visit

Murray Irrigation Deputy Chair Lachlan Marshall, CEO Ron McCalman and Water Policy & Strategy Manager Michael Pisasale were pleased to catch up with Federal Shadow Minster for Environment Jonathan Duniam last week to discuss the proposed amendments to the Murray-Darling Basin Plan.

Senator Duniam, who was touring the region at the invitation of Federal Member for Farrer Sussan Ley, met the Murray Irrigation contingent at Mr Marshall's Blighty dairy farm.

Mr Marshall, Mr McCalman and Mr Pisasale took the opportunity to raise their concerns about the effects further water buybacks could have on the communities that rely on water for their economic survival, and discussed potential solutions to achieving greater environmental outcomes using water that has already been recovered.

Murray Irrigation named Regional Business Award finalist

Murray Irrigation is delighted to be named as a finalist in the 2023 Business NSW Riverina Murray Regional Business Awards.

We are in the running for the Excellence in Sustainability award for our environmental watering project, Restoring Murray Waterways (formerly Murray Reconnected Floodplains).
