Operational Update

Restrictions possible, get your orders in early

With the expected hot weather, customer demand is expected to increase.

Please be aware that flow restrictions will occur in channels where demand exceeds the capacity of the channel.

To help minimise chances of interruptions to your orders:

  • Please ensure you place your orders as soon as possible and, to guarantee delivery, a four day order notification is required.
  • Consider filling on-farm storages prior to your high demand needs to ensure you can supplement if flows need to be restricted.
  • Please notify us of your order changes for extensions or increases as soon as possible.
  • Please report any weed issues in your channel section that may restrict flows.
  • If you are not happy with the future date the water ordering system offers you, please place an unsatisfied order (find out how to do this below). This will place you in the queue for a four-day start, at a restricted flow rate, or earlier if capacity becomes available.
  • Remember that your flow will be determined by the flow shares on your landholding.
  • For more details read our Restrictions and Flow Shares Fact Sheet.

If you have concerns or would like further explanation, contact us on 1300 138 265 or email us at customersupport@murrayirrigation.com.au

How to lodge an unsatisfied order

If you prefer an earlier order date and you receive the below system message when you enter your order:

Select 'Reject' to lodge an unsatisfied order.

You will then receive the below message:

Select 'Continue'.

This will place your order as an unsatisfied request and put you in the queue to receive your order as soon as capacity is available, or at a restricted flow in four days.

You can find more details in our Water Ordering Guide or, alternatively, you can contact us and we can show you how.

Call us on 1300 138 265 or send us an email: customersupport@murrayirrigation.com.au

Spraying, weeds and chemical drums

If you are experiencing weed issues, please contact us and report the problem.

We also ask that you please refrain from spraying weeds in our channels, as this may cause a contamination issue downstream.

For the same reason, please do not leave chemical drums on our channel banks.

We will be spraying along channel banks again in the next couple of months.

Once a weed issue is reported and work has been planned, we will call or SMS you to ensure no one is irrigating during that timeframe, to avoid causing disruption.

Business News

WaterWell customer engagement

Thank you to those of you who provided input into the new Forward Allocation Product that MIL is proposing to introduce to WaterWell.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your views with us.

With the customer engagement period now closed, your feedback is being analysed and will be used to assist Management develop a final recommendation for the Murray Irrigation Board to consider.

We look forward to keeping you updated on this initiative.

Revised operation guide

MIL has reviewed and updated our Wakool Irrigation District Flood Gate Operation Guide to reflect learnings from the floods that occurred in the area in October and November 2022.

The 24-page document provides guidance for managing and operating company infrastructure while minimising risk to life and property during flood events in the Wakool district.

The guide has been revised in line with actions arising from the ICAM inquiry into the company's response to the 2022 floods.

The ICAM review, which was completed last year and incorporated feedback from customers and staff, contained a number of recommendations that MIL is steadily implementing.

A copy of the 2022 Flood Event Drainage System Review Findings & Recommendations Report is available below.
