IPART pricing determination update

IPART has released its Final Decision for WaterNSW charges. You can read the Final Decision below.

IPART Final Report into WaterNSW Rural Valleys water charges

IPART has decided to set a one-year determination for WaterNSW. From 1 July 2025, bulk water charges will increase by 8.2%, and MDBA pass through charges will increase by 3%. IPART had initially proposed that all charges would be capped at CPI for three years, alongside an immediate one-off increase of 1.9% to cover WaterNSW’s proposed safety costs. IPART is intending to immediately commence a new pricing review for WaterNSW, which is expected to run for twelve months.

Alongside this, IPART has been seeking feedback on its Draft Decision for the Water Administration Ministerial Corporation (WAMC) price review.

In this regard, IPART is proposing a three-year pricing determination period, and pricing increases of at least 5%.You can read the full Draft Decision below.

IPART Draft Report into WAMC prices

Murray Irrigation has provided a submission to IPART on its WAMC Draft Decision, which you can read further below. We introduce this submission with a one-page response to IPART’s Final Decision for WaterNSW.

Critically, IPART has highlighted that both WaterNSW and WAMC should be subject to substantive price structure reviews that are ideally conducted independently. Murray Irrigation is highly supportive of these activities taking place. You can read our advice to IPART on how this work should be conducted in our WAMC submission
(below).
