Murray Irrigation sponsorship makes a splash

Sparkling new goggles are proving to be the swimming accessory of choice for children who have been enjoying a dip at the Berrigan War Memorial Swimming Pool this summer.

The Berrigan War Memorial Pool Committee has used grant funds, received through Murray Irrigation's annual Community Sponsorship Program, to purchase more than four dozen pairs of kids swimming goggles and hand them out to regular young pool users over the course of the summer school holidays.

Pool Committee Secretary, Cristina von Brockhusen, said the aim of the Committee's initiative is to encourage local children into the pool and assist them to learn critical water safety skills.     

"Swimming and being water confident are very important skills to learn, and goggles help the kids achieve that," Ms von Brockhusen said.

"The kids love coming to the pool to cool down, swim, play with their friends, and to get better with their swimming. They were all very happy to receive their new Zoggs goggles.

"The Berrigan War Memorial Pool Committee would like to thank Murray Irrigation for their sponsorship, Zoggs for supplying goggles and pool committee member Gary Lehre for helping to make this all come together."
