Water Minister tours Murray Irrigation

NSW Minister for Water, Lands and Natural Resources, Kevin Humphries will be visiting Murray Irrigation on Thursday 4 September.

The Minister is touring parts of the southern connected system with key staff from the Department of Primary Industries to get a better understanding of how water reform impacts on the local area.

Media are invited to a photo opportunity with the Minister at the Crossing Café in Deniliquin on Wednesday 3 September at 7.00pm.

Murray Irrigation will be taking the Minister on a tour of the area including Yallakool infrastructure upgrades as well as meeting with landholders from Southern Riverina Irrigators, Ricegrowers’ Association Deniliquin Branch, Colligen Creek landholders and the Murray Valley Water Association.

Murray Irrigation aims to explain the complexity of the southern connected system and the interrelationship with other valleys and the shared water resource as well as to show examples of how investment in infrastructure can have positive outcomes for both the environment and producers.
