High levels blue-green algae

A warning has been issued for high levels of blue-green algae (BGA) in Lake Mulwala and the Murray River downstream from Yarrawonga to Tocumwal.

A high alert has been issued by WaterNSW  for the Mulwala Offtake and blue-green algae has been detected in the Mulwala Canal.

Current blue-green algae warnings are available here.

Fact sheets from NSW DPI for farm water quality and treatment for algae and irrigation with blue-green algae affected water can accessed from the links below:

Hard copies of these facts sheets will be available at the Deniliquin and Finley Offices.

If possible, lower the intake for your stock and domestic pipe as deep as possible in the channel as the blue-green algae tends to accumulate near the surface where it is warm and light.

Water with high levels of blue-green algae should be used with caution, seek an alternative water source where possible.
