Snowy Advance

In February 2016, Murray Irrigation announced that it had entered into an agreement with Snowy Hydro Limited to make up to 200GL water available as an advance to Murray Irrigation for the 2016/17 irrigation season (click here for initial announcement).

Murray Irrigation customers and corporate partners exercised almost 30 percent of the available Snowy Advance volume, providing early season certainty for those participating.

The allocation accounts of participating Snowy Advance customers have now been credited with their exercised volume for use in the 2016/17 irrigation season.

Feedback about the project itself was overwhelmingly positive. The company will certainly be exploring options to run similar projects in future years.

The advance is an option and exercise product. The exercised volume will be delivered from Murray Development 'above target water' to protect other water holders and will be repaid in increments when allocations reach a target percentage with no roll-over fee or fixed repayment date.

Customer meetings

In conjunction with local landholder associations, Murray Irrigation held a series of Snowy Advance customer information sessions in April. To view a copy of the presentation made at the meetings, click here (3.88MB).

Murray Irrigation has prepared a short video version of the presentation given to customers at the information meetings to outline the Snowy Advance product for 2016. The video provides the same information with a voice-over explanation of the product, who can participate and the security and repayment requirements. By presenting the information on YouTube, Murray Irrigation is able to allow all customers access to information regardless of their ability to attend customer briefings.
